Hormone Imbalance

Many of us have heard the following:

  1. Your hormones don’t need to be checked- this is all a part of aging

  2. Your hormone levels are “normal”

  3. Your thyroid is within normal range

“Normal” levels on lab tests are the average ranges for some of your general age. However, normal does not mean “optimal”. At Hormone and Health clinic our goal is to help each one of our clients feel your optimal, not just average or ‘within normal limits’.

Hormone optimization is essential for your health. Your hormones affect how you feel, how you look and how you think.

The key is to understand and correct hormone imbalances

Each person has their own hormone balance, and the right level of hormones for one person is not necessarily right for all.  Symptoms can offer evidence of hormone imbalance, but the cause of the symptoms can be investigated further with testing. For example, feeling depressed or anxious could be a result of a progesterone, estradiol, or thyroid imbalance, too much of the stress hormone cortisol, or even dietary issues.

What are some signs and symptoms that my hormones may be imbalanced?

Some of the signs and symptoms that your hormones may be imbalanced include:

  • Irregular or absent menstrual cycles

  • Premenstrual Symptoms (PMS) (may include: breast tenderness, bloating, mood swings, cramping, low back pain, etc.)

  • Acne

  • Insomnia

  • Fatigue

  • Infertility

  • Low libido

  • Hot flashes

  • Vaginal dryness

  • Weight gain

  • Conditions including: Fibroids, Endometriosis, Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS)

It is important to understand the causes before seeking the treatment, At Hormones and Health, we work diligently with our clients to determine the underlying causes of hormone-related symptoms before undertaking treatment.

Once the likely cause of hormone-related symptoms has been uncovered, lifestyle and dietary changes, natural supplements, and bio-identical hormone therapy may be used help to restore optimal health. Understanding and correcting hormone and nutritional imbalances helps reduce, and possibly prevent, illness and diseases as you age.
